The Kids Bring Friends Over. A Friend Flips the Four-Wheeler. Then What?

That is why you carry guest liability. If a guest on your property gets hurt on your machine, the policy answers. Standard limits start at $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident, and we can take guest liability all the way up to $1,000,000.

$1,500 → $1,100

one real off-road policy, per year, before and after bundling

Four-wheelers, side-by-sides, dirt bikes, golf carts, and jet skis. Guest liability up to $1,000,000 and trailer coverage with a $100 deductible option.

Four-wheelers, dirt bikes, go-karts, golf carts, jet skis, and side-by-sides like a RZR or a Can-Am. Basically anything that is not going to be on a street most of the time, we cover under one off-road policy. People with acreage and a small side-by-side use the same policy as people with a trailer full of four-wheelers.

The premium lands in the middle, between an auto policy and a motorcycle policy. And this product has to be bundled with something, which is good news, because the discount is large.

What it covers

What does off-road vehicle insurance cover?

  • Bodily injury and guest liability

Liability for injuries to others, with guest liability for friends and family riding your machine. Standard is $25,000 / $50,000; we can go up to $1,000,000.

  • Medical payments

Medical bills for riders after an accident. Ask us about the per-person limits available on your machine.

  • Uninsured motorist

The same protection as your auto policy if an uninsured driver causes the accident.

  • Comprehensive and collision

Theft, fire, and rollover damage. Flipping it is 100 percent covered. Deductibles go as low as $100.

  • Transport trailer

From $600 up to $10,000 of coverage for the trailer, with its own deductible and a $100 option. If the trailer tips while hauling, both the trailer and the machines on it are covered.

  • Custom equipment

A big one for anyone who modifies their four-wheeler. Lifts, lights, winches, and audio.

In Jonathan's words

What Our Sales Manager Tells Every Caller

“If someone is a guest on your property, or a friend, and they get into an accident, you have coverage. Standard is bodily injury 25,000 / 50,000 per accident, and we can go all the way up to a million dollars in coverage for guest liability.”

Jonathan Sambrano, Sales Manager and Licensed Agent · Jonathan on guest liability

“Let us say you are hauling the four-wheelers. If it tips over or something happens, you have that coverage for the trailer and the four-wheelers themselves. And if it is sitting on your trailer and someone steals the trailer with it, they both have coverage if you have the trailer coverage added.”

What stands out

What makes this policy different?

  1. Theft is covered, including on the trailer

Many companies are not covering theft on these. We cover it through comprehensive, and if someone steals the trailer with the ATV on it, both are covered when trailer coverage is on the policy.

  2. $100 deductibles

On both the machine and the trailer.

  3. Guest liability to $1,000,000

Liability and bodily injury are massive on these vehicles. We quote limits that reflect that.

Good to know

Good to know before you call

  • This policy must be bundled with something, ideally your home and auto, or at least your auto.
  • Mopeds and golf carts generally fall under this policy rather than the motorcycle policy.
  • Jet skis are written here as well.

Bundle and save

You want to bundle ATV with home and auto, or at least auto. One policy Jonathan pulled up was about $1,500 for the year without the bundle and about $1,100 with it.

What Do You Already Insure?

Bundle and save

ATVs have to be bundled, and it pays

Off-road policies must be paired with something, ideally home and auto. One policy went from about $1,500 to $1,100 a year with the bundle. Motorcycles and boats also discount alongside your auto.
