Before You Ride Off, Let Us Make Sure the Policy Is Right

Riders are usually itching to go. Jonathan pauses every one of them: "I get it, you are excited, but we have to make sure you are protected before you even drive off." The good news is the policy is quick, and cheaper than most people expect.

A separate policy with guest bodily injury, $10,000 death indemnity included, gear coverage, and deductibles as low as $250.

A motorcycle cannot be added to an auto policy. It needs its own, and a lot of people do not know that until they call to add one. The motorcycle policy actually carries a few coverages the auto policy does not.

It is not expensive. Jonathan has quoted a standard motorcycle with liability at around $120 for the year, and he is still surprised sometimes by how low the numbers come in.

What it covers

What does motorcycle insurance cover?

  • Bodily injury and guest bodily injury

Liability for injuries you cause, plus a separate limit for a passenger on your bike.

  • Uninsured motorist

Works the same as on your auto policy: medical expenses when the other driver flees or does not carry enough insurance.

  • Death indemnity, $10,000 included

Every motorcycle policy includes $10,000 if someone on the motorcycle passes away, separate from bodily injury. The limit can be increased.

  • Riding gear and equipment

Around $30,000 of coverage for the helmet, jacket, and gear you are wearing and the equipment on the bike.

  • Comprehensive and collision

Theft, which is easier with a motorcycle, falls under comprehensive. Deductibles go as low as about $250.

  • Trailer

Add the trailer you haul it on.

In Jonathan's words

What Our Sales Manager Tells Every Caller

“Motorcycle coverage is not as expensive as some people think. I personally am surprised sometimes how cheap it is. But it has a lot of coverages all the way around, a little bit more than the auto. The guests even have their own separate bodily injury setup.”

“If my wife will not ride it, does she have to be on the policy? Yes, sir, she does. If she ever wants to move it in the garage, or she turns it on and it goes straight through the garage door. You definitely have to add her even if she might never ride it.”

What stands out

What makes our motorcycle coverage different?

  1. Death indemnity on every policy

Most riders do not know it exists. It is a separate $10,000 benefit, included, and you can raise it.

  2. Gear is covered

Roughly $30,000 for the equipment and gear a rider wears. Nobody has asked in a claim whether a helmet was on.

  3. An agent who slows the sale down

Motorcycle policies are short and quick. We use the extra five minutes to confirm every coverage before you ride.

Good to know

Good to know before you call

  • Every driver in the household must be listed, even one who never plans to ride.
  • Standard motorcycles qualify. Mini bikes do not have a market with our carrier yet. Mopeds and golf carts generally fall under the ATV and off-road policy, so ask us which one fits.
  • Theft is covered under your comprehensive deductible.

Bundle and save

Pair it with your auto policy

Bundling anything with your auto is always a good idea. Insure the bike and the car with one office and ask us what the multi-policy discount does.

What Do You Already Insure?

Bundle and save

ATVs have to be bundled, and it pays

Off-road policies must be paired with something, ideally home and auto. One policy went from about $1,500 to $1,100 a year with the bundle. Motorcycles and boats also discount alongside your auto.
